Muri Muri (White valley), Bora Bora

Exiting the pass, we are greeted by a school of bottlenose dolphins. Sea was slightly choppy which is usually to case on the northern side of the island. To my relief and to my fellow divers, the sea did smooth out into a gentle swell upon reaching the site. Getting to the site, Jérôme announced that we couldn’t have had better boat conditions for this dive.

Jérôme, our divemaster, has a nice jovial personality and has a calm and cheerful demeanor. Very well perceived by most guests. After a quick briefing of dive procedures and potential wildlife we were likely to encounter, we all giant strode into water and the dive was underway. No current and a Grey shark just below us.

Muri Muri
The white valley of Bora Bora

Muri Muri is one of the favourite dive sites due to the incredible marine life sightings and its underwater topography. It open into a field with rich coral formations, and sandy dunes animated by a multitude of fish. The reef in perpetual activity. Like a garden inhabited by its own little microcosms of fish life.

Schools of parrotfish and trigger fish of different varieties were feeding TOPDIVE TOPDIVEon the coral polyps. Along with the usual blacktip reef sharks, the reef is frequented by fast paced blue finned jacks and a few solitary greysharks that distinguish themselves by its size. A regular to the sight is a playful turtle you see gliding over the coral bed and undersea cliffoverhangs.

Other marine life sightings are empreror fish, Moorish idols, blue squirrel fish, red schools of soldier fish and a huge concentration of parrotfish of different colors.

We sighted a school of Heller barracudas during our safety stop hovering in the blue at 30 feet. Dive lasted for about 40 minutes. It was a pleasure of a dive.
